Lou Lovejoy harvests crops for CSA distribution in late June.

We are looking forward once again to providing you all with delicious and nutritious produce from our fields. Welcome back to all our loyal supporters — without you there would probably be one less farm in Tunbridge. Welcome to all who are putting their trust in us for the first time. It is an honor to grow food for all these families.

To us, our produce is not just a commodity, something to produce and make money off of. If that was the case, I think I would choose to produce something that was not so weather dependant. We really enjoy the pleasure of eating good food. Food so good that the less preparation the less additional ingredients the better the flavor. Really most of our produce would only benefit from a touch of salt and a splash of olive oil.

DATES: First pick up is Monday, June 6, 2011. The last is Monday, Oct. 17, 2011. 20 weeks. Mark your calendars now!

PRICE: $320.00/share. There is one size share. Most would say that it is enough for two non-vegetarian adults. Some feed more folks on one share. We would encourage families to get two shares. All payments due on or before the first pick up day. Letting us know your interest by April 15 helps us a lot with our planning. Thank you to all who send your checks ahead of time.

FARMSHARE PROGRAM: For anyone needing help with the cost of our CSA, NOFA-VT has a farmshare program that provides a subsidy. These are limited and I encourage you to apply early (now would be good), to insure that you get the assistance you need. Information is on the NOFA-VT web page or contact me if you have questions.

PICK YOUR OWN: We will again have peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, and herbs for those that want to pick them.

MEAT: Kyle and Jen Thygesen of The Farmstead will again provide grass fed chicken, pork, and beef-raised on their organic dairy farm here in Tunbridge.

CHEESE AND YOGURT: Elizabeth Billings will be offering her homemade feta and yogurts again.

OTHER: Consider adding two or three dollars to your share price. I will send this off to NOFA for our farmshare account. If you would like a tax deductible contribution, click here for more information. Thank you to everyone who donated to our FARMSHARE program last year. This money goes through NOFA-VT directly into an account for Tunbridge Hill Farm members who are subsidized 1/2 the cost of a share. NOFA contributes 1/4, our account contributes 1/4, and the member pays 1/2. I love this program as it makes available quality food for everyone. For $160.00, a couple could eat really well for 20 weeks. If you know anyone who may benefit from this program, do them a favor and let them know that it is available.
